Beirne Named Senior Associate Director of Catering

Bill Beirne has been named senior associate director of catering forNotre Dame Food Services. The appointment was effective January 1, 2014.

In this capacity, Beirne provides direction and support to the Catering by Design team. “I look forward to developing a professional business/sales culture to enable our staff to provide the highest level of service to our internal campus departments as well as to our external customers,” said Beirne.

Additionally, he oversees all campus retail units and the maintenance department, responsible for maintaining all food service equipment campus-wide.

Beirne joined the University in 1998 as assistant general manager of the Morris Inn. He was appointed director of the Morris Inn in 2001, and director of the unified Morris Inn/Notre Dame Conference Center in 2007. In August, 2012, he was named interim director of Food Services following the death of Dave Prentkowski, and in October, 2013 he was named senior associate director of residential operations, overseeing food safety, nutrition and culinary staffs in menu development as well as food production and distribution.

“I am excited for Bill’s transition to help lead our catering team,” said Chris Abayasinghe, director of food services. “His extensive experience in the hospitality industry is a welcome addition.”
