For Our Catering Clients: Alcoholic Beverage Serving Regulations

Author: Molly Moran

Dear University Partners,

In an effort to better serve your department and the University, we wish to inform you of an existing law that is very important. Indiana State Excise Police require all catering events that have alcohol service to have permits.  These requests must be submitted no less than fifteen days in advance.  If you are planning a function and know you will be serving alcohol, but do not have other details, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can guarantee that we are able to service your event.

Both the Indiana State Excise Police and we know that there will be last minute requests.  Funerals and other special events will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.  For those events that we know in advance are going to happen, we need to be more timely with our notifications. We do not wish to have any request denied, which could happen if we do not notify Indiana State Excise Police prior to the fifteen day deadline.

We want to make certain that your event is executed as you envisioned and we certainly do appreciate your future cooperation with this very important matter.
