Giuseppe Macerata, CEC, has been appointed Executive Chef for University Catering and the Center for Culinary Excellence. He will begin his new position on July 16.

“I find Giuseppe to be a talented chef and a collaborator who strives to listen and exceed guest expectations on a consistent basis,” says Sunil Yaradi, director of University Catering. “I am thrilled to be partnering with Giuseppe to elevate University Catering to the next level by delivering to our slogan, ‘It Tastes Better Here!’ ”

University Catering provides custom menus and event planning on Notre Dame’s campus, producing over 8,000 events annually for campus departments, student organizations, non-University events and weddings. The epicenter of catering food production on campus, the Center for Culinary Excellence houses a state of the art catering kitchen, bake shop, garde manger, grab and go assembly and packaging area, a cook chill room and protein shop.

Giuseppe began his career at Notre Dame in 1996 as a member of Campus Dining’s Culinary Apprenticeship Program. Since then, he’s served as a lead cook at the Morris Inn, chef manager at Legends of Notre Dame, and production manager at North Dining Hall. In his most recent role as executive chef of the Center for Culinary Excellence, Giuseppe was awarded the Presidential Leadership Award for his exemplary performance and servant leadership.

Congratulations, Giuseppe, on this well deserved honor!
