Academic Recognition Weekend

Location: North Dining Hall

North Dining Hall Closed March 5 for Donor Recognition Event

If you are a student at Notre Dame, you have benefited from the generosity of University donors. Maybe you read a book or an online journal made possible through an endowed collection. Maybe you conducted research one summer on funding from a UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunity), or your favorite professor holds an endowed chair, or you participated in a service seminar through the Center for Social Concerns.

On March 4-5 some 150 benefactors—the people who have enriched your Notre Dame experience—will be on campus to see how their generosity has impacted the academic culture here. The weekend will include a welcome reception; a seminar featuring student (Marjorie Massel and David Zadigian ´11) and faculty (Dean Peter Kilpatrick and Dr. Joan Brennecke) testimonials; a presentation by John Affleck-Graves, executive vice president, on the subject of “The Economy and the Academy;” and Masses celebrated in academic buildings around the campus. Guests will also attend the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra’s winter concert.

The Academic Recognition Weekend will conclude with a presidential recognition dinner hosted by Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C. The benefactors in attendance will represent more than $20 million in gifts to Notre Dame. The North Dining Hall will be closed Saturday, March 5th, to accommodate these generous donors.
