Waste & Weigh Nights

-

Location: North Dining Hall & South Dining Hall

Campus Dining will be Weighing the Waste monthly again this semester to promote awareness and to encourage students to reduce their food waste in the dining halls. Look for signage in the dining halls with average waste per person and other food waste facts. Our collected food waste at ND dining halls is ground up into a slurry by our Grind2Energy systems and transported to the Homestead Dairy Farm in Plymouth, Indiana. At the farm, a digester converts the slurry into biogas to produce electricity. The liquid byproducts from the process are used as fertilizer, while the solid byproducts are used as bedding for the cows.

Join us for the following dates:
Wednesday, January 25, 4:30 - 8:30 p.m., South Dining Hall
Thursday, January 26, 4:30 - 8:30 p.m., North Dining Hall
