On February 14th, parents of Notre Dame's junior class will arrive on campus for a three-day celebration and bonding experience known as Junior Parents Weekend. The weekend is designed to immerse parents in the spiritual, academic, social and residential lives of their students and is filled with a variety of events, and of course, great food.
Two of the main events of the weekend are the President's Dinner, held on Saturday night, and the Closing Brunch, held on Sunday morning. Planning for these meals began early, with food tastings for each held in November in the F-Wing of North Dining Hall. On two consecutive nights, Catering by Design presented the Junior Parents Weekend committee, comprised solely of students, with three options for brunch and three for dinner. The students were able to taste all
options and choose the best menu for each event as well as the accompanying table linens. This was no small task, as they are expecting approximately 3,200 guests at each meal.
Two months later, on January 14th, the committee met with Catering once again in North Dining Hall for a final review of each meal and table presentation. Seeing the tables as they will be at the dinner and brunch allows the students to go into their events confidently, knowing exactly what juniors and their parents will experience when they dine in the Joyce Center Fieldhouse.
The menus chosen by the committee for the
Junior Parents Dinner and Brunch are:
Endive and Parmesan Salad
Crisp Romaine and Endive served with Lemon Vinaigrette and
ND's Own Black Russian & Sourdough Dinner Rolls
Roasted Pepper and Boursin Stuffed Chicken
served with Supreme Sauce
