Philosophy and Nutritionists

Meet Jocie and Ally. ND Dining Certified Nutritionists!
Jocie and Ally are passionate about helping students foster a healthy relationship with food and body by promoting balanced eating, mindful choices, and overall well-being to support student success. This philosophy is based on the following key principles:
- Balance and Variety: Encourage students to build a plate that includes a balance of macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, and fats) and a variety of fruits and vegetables
- Gentle Nutrition: Encourage making choices that honor one's health and provide the body with nutrients it needs to feel energized and perform well academically and physically
- Focus on Improvement, Not Perfection: Advocate for making small, consistent improvements in food choices over time, rather than drastic, temporary diet changes
- All Foods Fit: Emphasize that there are no "good" or "bad" foods, and it is healthy and encouraged to make room for favorites in moderation
- Mindful Eating: Teach students to honor their hunger and fullness cues and eat with intention, free of guilt or the "food police" mentality
